Cinnamon Stick Tree Ornaments
Prep: 30 minutes • Makes: 4
16 cinnamon sticks, 12 cut crosswise in half on the bias
4 whole star anise
4 (6-inch-long) pieces of twine
Green, gold and red mini bells
Holly berries
Mini pine cones
Small evergreen branches
1. With glue gun, attach 6 cinnamon stick halves to 1 whole cinnamon stick to create downward angled “branches”; let dry 10 minutes. Repeat with remaining cinnamon sticks to make 3 more trees.
2. With glue gun, attach star anise to top of “trees”; let dry 5 minutes.
3. Bring ends of 1 piece of twine together to create loop; with hot glue gun, attach ends of twine to the top of the back of 1 tree for hanging the ornament. Repeat with remaining pieces of twine and trees; let dry 5 minutes.
4. With glue gun, attach mini bells, holly berries, mini pine cones and evergreen branches to ornaments in desired designs; let dry completely before wrapping and giving as gifts. Makes 4 ornaments.
Chef Tip:
Ornaments could also be personalized with small wooden craft letters or numbers to commemorate the year.
